The Real Fiery Trees and Silver Flowers

Creating the real fiery trees and silver flowers is a folk custom of a little country called "WeiXian" in Hebei Province, China.

On the Chinese Lantern Festival, the Chinese in WeiXian melt iron block into iron water. Then a brave person will use a scoop made from willow to throw the iron water to the circumvallation (the wall). The iron water splashing about, like a big fiery tree with silver flowers.

This activity has a history of over 300 years. Long long ago, in WeiXian, the rich played fireworks, but the poor blacksmiths had no fireworks, they melted the iron and threw the iron water to the wall. Unexpectedly, the iron water splashed and create a more great and wonderful scene than the fireworks. So year over year, people throw iron water and this activity becomes a folk custom of WeiXian.
